Obituary for Warren A. Rahrle Sr.

Warren A. Rahrle, Sr., 91, of East Syracuse passed away Monday after a brief illness. Born in Syracuse, NY he retired in 1986 from Georgia-Pacific Inc. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII being a survivor of the D-Day Invasion and received the Purple Heart. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family, his dog Buddy and being a fan of the NY Yankees.
He is predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Arlene (Donnelly) Rahrle in 2008; brother, Willard Rahrle; and sister, Betty Calkins.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather to his family. His smile will be missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his daughters, Diane Landry, Marie Opdyke (Richard) and Janet Nunez (Ron Teigen); sons, David (Cindy) and Warren Jr. (Deborah) Rahrle; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8:15 am Saturday at R.H. Schepp & Son Minoa Chapel and 9:00 am at St. Matthew’s Church in East Syracuse. Burial with military honors will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Minoa. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Friday at the funeral home, 6530 Schepp’s Corners Rd., Minoa.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Silver Fox Senior Club, 22 E. Genesee St., Baldwinsville, NY 13027 or Wanderer’s Rest, P.O. 535, Canastota, NY 13032.
