Obituary for Donald L. Backus

Donald L. Backus, 68, of Kirkville, passed away on Wednesday evening, May 20, 2015. Born in Syracuse on June 24, 1946, he was the son of Edward and Thelma Seeley Backus. Donald was a Union Carpenter for various contractors. He enjoyed being at the family camp on Oswegatchie River and riding his Harley.
He is predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Lee and David Backus. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Patricia Flight Backus; daughter, Sheriann (Doug Shampine) Miles; sons, Lawrence (Mary) Backus and Bryan (Amy) Backus; brother, George Backus; grandchildren, Shawn and Scott Miles and Emily and Dylan Backus; great grandchildren, Shawn Miles Jr. and Trevor Rall; and several nieces nephews and cousin.
There will be no services.
Contributions may be made in his memory to any local charities of one’s choice.
