Obituary for Scott A. Ellsworth

Scott A. Ellsworth, 48, of Fayetteville passed away after being diagnosed 8 years ago with a rare form of cancer. Scott bravely fought against all odds enduring countless surgeries and treatments with endless strength and dignity.
Scott, known to his friends as Scooter, was born March 27, 1967. As a child he played football and later baseball and softball. He graduated from FM High School. He began a career in construction with Alan-Patrick Builders and most recently with CBD Construction.
Scott married Melissa Orlando in 2007. He was a loving and dedicated husband who enjoyed being at home with his wife and dog Cricket. He loved grilling, mowing the lawn and relaxing in front of the TV with a cold beer. He was a meticulous craftsman who single handedly rebuilt his beautiful house from the ground up.
Scott was a huge fan of SU basketball and Otto, as well as the NY Yankees. His hobbies included golfing, fishing and horseracing and he looked forward to his trips to both the stadium in the Bronx and the racetrack in Saratoga.
Scott was a lover of music, art and literature. He especially loved reading Sherlock Holmes. He had a passion for learning which resulted in a depth of knowledge that was intuitive and wide ranging, as well as a quiet sense of humor and quick wit.
Scott is survived by his wife, Melissa; his three step-sons, David Jr., Michael and Matthew Orlando; as well as his mother Barbara Smith; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother John M. and his father John A. Ellsworth.
Scotts life will be celebrated Sunday January 24th at 1:30 pm at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. Following there will be a reception at Hullar’s.
Donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Avenue, New York, New York 10065.
