Dorothy Gurzny Haase, 86, of Jamesville passed away unexpectedly at Crouse Hospital on Thursday April 13, 2016.
Born March 27, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Francis and Loretta (Worfel) Gurzny of Eastwood.
Dorothy graduated from Syracuse University where she met her husband.
She will be remembered for her artistic side. Dorothy was an accomplished watercolor, folk art painter, gardener, horticulture judge and a member of the Home Garden Club. Above all she loved and cared for her family and husband of 66 years.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Nelson; daughter Constance (David) Hohreiter of Jamesville,; son Mark (Christine) Haase of Ithaca; grandchildren William and Allison Hohreiter and Matthew and Carrie Haase; sister Lois (Gurzny) Santola and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Saturday, May 14th from 10-11 a.m. at the Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Rd. Manlius. A memorial service will follow the calling hours at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Manlius Village Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Southwood Fire Rescue, 4581 Grace PL. Jamesville NY 13078. In lieu of flowers please plant a perennial.
