Obituary for Gary George Andrews

Gary George Andrews, 81, of DeWitt passed away Wednesday. He was born in Syracuse the son of George and Isabel Andrews. Gary grew up in Syracuse and graduated from Nottingham High School and attended Syracuse University. Later Gary proudly served in the United States Coast Guard.
Gary worked as the Director of Bio-Medical Engineering for St. Joseph's Hospital until his retirement.
He was a train enthusiast, a licensed pilot and flight instructor. Gary was a member of the Finger Lakes Live Steamers, a volunteer with E.A.V.E.S Ambulance and a former member of the DeWitt Rescue Squad.
Surviving are, daughters, Dr. Janice (Dr. Jeffrey) Gilsdorf, Judy Andrews; son, William (Ruthann) Andrews; brother, Robert Andrews; grandchildren, Maclain, Makenna, Colin and Aidan Gilsdorf, Hanna Ibrahim, Benjamin Andrews; niece Colleen Clemett. He was predeceased by his sister, Verda Burt and grandson, Adam Ibrahim.
Calling hours are Sunday June 12th from 3-5 p.m. and Monday from 9-10 a.m. at the Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel, 7191 E. Genesee St. Fayetteville. A funeral service will be Monday at 10: 00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Gary’s memory may be made to Foundation for Upstate Medical University, 750 E. Adams St. CAB 326, Syracuse NY 13210-9943.
