Obituary for John Cahill

John M. “Skinny” Cahill, 51, of Fayetteville, passed away suddenly on Thursday. Born in Syracuse on July 10, 1964, he was the son of John and Mary Lou Cahill. Skinny earned an Associate’s degree from Morrisville College and was employed as a furniture refinisher at Tobin Refinishing. A member of the FM Gentleman’s Golf League, he was a past champion multiple times. He was an avid baker and Christmas cookie maker extraordinaire. He loved to cook, bowl, and entertain family.

Skinny is survived by his two greatest loves, his sons Johnny and Patrick Cahill; parents, Jack and Mary Lou Cahill; brother, Martin Cahill; sister, Kathleen (Michael) Cahill Conway; loving significant other, Shelly McNally and her children, Miguel, Patrick, Timothy, Rebecca, Rachel, Moriah, Gabrielle, and Grace; nephews, Conor, Jack, and Luke; aunt, Barbara Sherman; and two cousins.

Calling hours will be 3 pm to 6 pm on Sunday at the Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel, 8171 Cazenovia Rd, Manlius. A funeral mass will be held on Monday at 10 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs St, Fayetteville. Burial will follow in Fayetteville Cemetery.
